This is a picture of a terminally ill patient (“E.”) and her caring hospice nurse (Teri). Teri is one of the many hospice nurses who provide care to more than 1 million hospice patients in the US each year. At the end of life, caring rather than curing becomes the focus, to help the dying patient and her family prepare for death. Both E. and her nurse, Teri, gave their permission for this photograph to be shared on Envision Kindness. In part due to Teri’s care, E. is still alive.
