On World Kindness Day 2019, we reached out to the Envision Kindness community and asked them to share stories of kindness, joy, and love. Today, we share Maribeth’s story. Maribeth’s family home was ruined by an earthquake in the Philippines. Her finance helped to rebuild it. Thank you Maribeth for sharing your story with the community!
I grew up with my family in the Philippines, and we grew up in poverty for most of our lives. But despite this, as a family, we were always very close. Especially me and my grandma. She has been such a source of inspiration for me in my life.
My hometown was hit by a devastating earthquake, and our house was ruined. Thankfully, my kind fiance (who is from the USA!) came back to the Philippines and helped to remodel our house to be a first world home. It was an amazing transformation and I am so happy to know my family has a safe and beautiful place to live.
I still can’t believe it. My family is so happy. We blessed the house on January 16, 2020 and had many neighbors and guests stop by to see it.
I am going to America on a fiance visa in April and we will marry in June. I am so grateful for his kindness to my family. Here are some photos of our house before and after the remodel. We have lived in utter poverty our whole lives, so this is pretty special. There are no words to describe it.
