For some people, putting emotions into words can be challenging, so expressing them through art can be easier. You don’t have to share what you made with anyone – this is just for you.
1. Pick a type of art you enjoy doing. Here are some ideas:
- Drawing
- Painting
- Sculpting
- Collage
- Music
- Dance or Movement
2. Channel what you’re feeling into the art
- For example, if you feel sad, you could draw what that sadness feels like or sing a song about heartache.
- Try not to judge your art. It’s not “good” or “bad.” The goal is to express yourself and let the emotion flow out of you.
3. Get rid of your art or put it away

For example, Kaya just found out she didn’t get a promotion and draws what her disappointment and sadness feel like.
